Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all and especially my beautiful mother. This was definitely not the mother's day I had hoped for but still had many beautiful moments. Jacob bought me a gorgeous arrangement of Mums and Lilys (St. Catherine's flower) and some great gift cards to pamper myself for the rest of the year. Next week we head to Minnesota to go see Mike, Emily, and Anna Jayne, we are absolutely thrilled! I think a change of scenery could do us all some good right now! Thanks again to all of you who have been keeping us in your prayers. Everyday is better than the last.

St. Catherine

We did indeed lose our precious little angel. The doctor confirmed this morning that although the egg sac was present, the baby never formed. Hopefully things will take care of themselves this week, otherwise a DNC will need to be performed next week. This has been the greatest struggle of our lives. Thank you for all of those who have kept us in your prayers. We could never have survived this without you. Without the rock of our father, we would be lost.
Going back a few weeks, throughout the pregnancy (in such a short time), we of course talked about potential boy and girl names. The only name we could agree on was Catherine, after St. Catherine of Siena, and we were at a loss for any other name. Well, last week when we first knew there was a problem Jacob and I decided to pick a name for our beautiful baby as we thought this would help with the grieving process. Since Catherine was the one we could agree on, Catherine it was. St. Catherine of Siena was an amazingly holy and strong women, and it was not until this morning that we realized the awesome significance of our choice. We found this morning through the research of my beloved sister in law that St. Catherine's feast day this year was April 29th... the day before we found out our little one was in trouble. The opening prayer for Catholic mass around the world today is an intercessory prayer of St. Catherine. We also found out that she is the patron saint of miscarriages. Sometimes God can send his messages of hope and mercy loud and clear! The peace that Jacob and I have received from knowing these things has been our greatest comfort. They have allowed us to know without a shadow of a doubt that this is the will of the Father. May his will be done, not ours. We long for the day we will be reunited with our entire family while resting in the arms of our Lord. Please continue to pray for us as we heal and mourn our loss. Also that things will take care of themselves naturally and that a DNC will not be necessary. Thank you for our overwhelming love and support. We are truly blessed.

Pregnancy Update

Baby and I are officially off to a great start! We went to the doctor last week and everything is looking great as far as blood work and hormone levels. They also did an ultrasound and baby looks nice and cozy in there! It was a little too early to detect a heartbeat at this point. I have another doctors appointment with my OB/GYN on Wednesday, we should be able to see the heartbeat then. More updates to come but so far so good :) Please keep us in your prayers, we still have a few more weeks to go to get in the safe zone!

Even little men like reading material!

Oh how he loves to sit on his little potty! We bought it at a garage sale this weekend and thought it would be a good idea for the future. For now he is way too young to get the point but I died laughing this morning when I caught him on the potty with his favorite book! Such a man!

Curtis is a big brother!!!!

That's right, I'm pregnant!!! Jacob and I will welcome our newest little blessing sometime around Christmas Eve. Maybe our little one will share Christ's birthday! We are thrilled beyond belief and can not wait to see all the joys our precious baby will have in store for us. Many more posts to come on baby number two!!!

April Updates

I had a wonderful birthday...can't believe I am a quarter of a century! The whole family came over to celebrate. It is an awesome thing to have all of our family in town! Kristy looks beautiful by the way...baby Kaylee is finally on display (check out the Picasa pictures)

I had the opportunity to see all of my old students at a deaf co-op picnic last week. It was so much fun to see the looks on their faces when they got off the bus and realized I was there. I absolutely love these kiddos and I think about them all the time. It was great to see that they are all doing well and growing like weeds! I really enjoyed seeing them interact with Curtis as well. You can really tell how much someone loves you by the way they love your children just because they are a part of you! The kids were adorable with Curtis and enjoyed entertaining him with bubbles and beach balls...Curtis was thrilled!

If you looks closely you can see Curtis's spots in this picture. We just got back from the pediatric dermatologist and Curtis's skin funk is no big deal. Yeah for that good news! That darn rash has stuck around for six weeks now. Naturally by the time we could get in to see the dermatologist it was almost completely gone! At least there was enough for the doctor to see the remnants of the rash and assure us that everything is okay. Just some kind of viral abnormal pediatric roseacia, should go away on its own no problem.

We taught a HUGE NFP class on Saturday (19 couples!!!) that was a lot of fun. It is a great thing for Jacob and I to do together. We love to meet all the engaged couples and remember what it was like to be in their shoes.

Curt Burt has been sick the past two days :( He just can't keep any fluids inside that little body of his. Hopefully he will be on the mend here shortly.

That's about it for now. Jacob's birthday is Sunday so we should have more fun posts next week!
